The chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye, has called on the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (NAE) to help Nigeria cut down on her export of crude oil for refining by coming up with an enabling refinery structure.
Durojayie made the call last Thursday while addressing NAE members at an annual lecture held at the J.F. Ade Ajayi auditorium, University of Lagos (UNILAG).
He said, “You our brilliant, dedicated and patriotic officers and members of Nigerian academy of engineering should please help Nigeria design enabled refineries for our petroleum industries or invite those who will help us to nurse and contribute to having well reserve ‘people’ product here”
“We (Nigerians) so endowed by God with so much of mineral resources. We have to export some of our crude oil overseas and import”
The senator, who also decried the situation of traffic on roads after rainfalls, called on the enginners to help provide solution to the challenge.
During the lecture, Life-time Achievement awards were awarded to ‘distinctive’ professors S. O. Adeyemi; S. Balogun, Buba Garegy Bajoga, among others.
New fellows inducted into the academy, among others, include the Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Hessian Adamu; chairman of Maikifi Oil and Gas Co. Ltd, Dr. Maikanti Kacalla Baru and Prof. U.G. Danbatta
